Postback - FAQ
Why do we only provide manifested data?
OneFlo only extracts manifested data because it is the most accurate data at the point when the freight data has been sent to the carrier. This means no other changes can take place on the consignment.
Can you send unmanifested data?
Yes - but it is not advisable as consignment data may change or even be deleted between postback generation.
Can you send postback to e-mail addresses?
Postbacks are ideally sent to ERP, OMS, or other systems that can consume data to reconcile back to the order dataset. There are other reports available in OneFlo or that efm can provide that is fit for human consumption.
It is something that we can do, but we recommend against it. If your ERP, OMS system can’t receive files over SFTP, we can configure the postback to go to an e-mail address that will be consumed by your ERP.
Please refer to Postback - Transfer Methodarchived for preferred methods.
Can you send postback data via API?
We can send XML data to an API endpoint but it is a one way transaction of data, we do not match and find references to reconcile the consignment details to. It is up to the receiving system to reconcile the information back to the source.
Can you send in CSV format?
We can, but we advise against it because it’s not scalable. Modifying CSV templates can have drastic effects to the system receiving it because it relies on the correct position of the columns that are passed in the file.
XML is a better format because it supports structure and multiple elements that are contained in a parent element.
